Discount tire is the largest tire retailer in the world and only offers services on tires. They have over 1,000 locations nationwide and can work on any vehicle, including the Tesla.

I have over nine years’ experience in the tire industry and personally worked with Discount Tire. And this is why I can give you a complete guide on everything you need to know about so as to meet your Tesla tire needs.

Can you Purchase Tesla Tires At Discount Tire?

Discount Tire offers the largest selection of tires for Tesla vehicles for purchase and installation. They carry over 30 brands of tires, with many of them being available for all models of the Telsa.

Selecting New Tires

There are two methods you can go about picking out new tires with this retailer.

The first is the old-fashioned way of heading to the nearest location and walking in to speak to one of their sales associates. These associates will do their best to assess your needs on what you’re looking for and recommend what they think is the best option.

The other method, which is what I prefer, is to jump on their website Their website has many features to help in your tire buying process. All they require is the year and model of the Tesla so as to proceed in finding options.

If you use their website to choose and purchase your next set of tires, I recommend using Treadwell rather than shopping all tire options. It can be time-consuming to click on every tire to see the details. Whereas Treadwell displays all the critical information you need to make easy comparisons.

Treadwell is a tire recommendation guide. It utilizes tire-testing data, regional weather data, and driving habits to provide a list of top tire options for the vehicle. When you enter the store to select tires, their sales associates also use Treadwell to make recommendations.

Either route you choose, you get the same experience online as you would in-store. I prefer online because you don’t have to leave the house.

It’s not a secret that tires on a Tesla will cost more than your average vehicle. Especially if you opt for original equipment tires. Depending on the model and tire size, you can expect to pay between $650 and $2,500 for a set of tires.

Can Discount Tire Change Tires On A Tesla?

Discount Tire can change the tires for every year and model Tesla there is. Even the 21 and 22-inch sizes on the Model S and X.

For Discount Tire to change the tires on a Tesla requires 5 steps.

  1. Lifting the vehicle
  2. Removing the wheel assemblies
  3. Dismounting and remounting the tires from old to new
  4. Balancing the new tires
  5. Bolting the wheels back on and torquing them to spec.

With the latest technology of tire changing and balancing equipment, there is a low possibility of the rims getting scratched. They even carry the required jack pucks to safely lift and service the vehicle. Some tire shops don’t have lift pucks, which is the most significant reason for not being able to service a Tesla.

Time And Cost

Once you have arrived at the store for tire installation, it can take anywhere from 1-3 hours to complete the service. I recommend scheduling an appointment. This drastically cuts your waiting time by providing next-in-bay service, and it takes less than 1 hour to get you back on the road.

When you purchase tires from Discount Tire, they charge a flat rate of $22 per tire to install for rim sizes under 18-inch. And $24 for anything larger than 19 inches in diameter.

If you want them to install tires not purchased from Discount Tire, then pricing will vary depending on the location and it is expected to pay between $120 and $300.

Why You Should Change Tesla Tires At Discount Tire

Discount Tire provides some of the best customer service I have seen out of the various tire retailers. They offer monthly rebates and a low price promise which ensures if you find a better price within 30 days of purchase, they refund the difference.

When you purchase any tire from them, they will maintain the tires at no charge for their life. This includes tire rotations and balancing, tire repair, air pressure checks, and a pro-rated road hazard, all at no additional cost.

Aside from customer service and low prices, what sets them apart from other large retail stores is how fast they can have your vehicle serviced. Anyone who values their time should get their next set of tires with Discount Tire.

Does Discount Tire Do Tire Rotations On Teslas?

Yes, Discount Tire does tire rotation services on all Tesla models. They even do this service at no cost even if you didn’t purchase the tires from them. All they ask in return is you buy your next set of tires from them.

While tire rotations will be free, they charge for tire balancing unless the tires are bought from them. Balancing can cost between $60 and $100 depending on if you want a one-time or life of tire balancing.

If you schedule an appointment, a tire rotation takes less than an hour. Yet, a walk-in service can take up to 3 hours, depending on how busy they are.

Does Discount Tire Fix Tesla Tires?

Yes and no. They can repair most Tesla tires except for the Continental line with ContiSilent Technology. These Continentals have a rubber sealant underneath the inner foam liner that prevents patch adhesion.

Discount Tire does tire repairs at no cost to consumers, even if the tires were not bought from them. This service can take a few hours as a walk-in and less than an hour with an appointment.

Our Verdict

Discount Tire is a store that I send to all my friends and family for all their tire needs. Anyone that owns a Tesla will be delighted with the customer service, prices, and professional work they provide. This should be the first stop for anyone looking for a new set of tires.
